Beginners’ sessions starting on 22 June 2021 at 8pm on Tuesday evenings
I’ve created this page as there has been a lot of interest from people wanting to start wing chun lessons once lock down restrictions end. On Tuesday 22 June we should be free to meet without the restriction of face masks.. I’m sending a link to this page so everyone can understand before they come what to expect, because for most us of we have not been in larger groups for a long time and it may feel strange to do that and start a martial art at the same time.
The intro course will consist of 5 sessions of about an hour each. Over the five weeks you will have time to get an understanding of what wing chun is, and why good body awareness and function will improve how much force you can generate and receive. This may also improve how you use your body in your daily life. You will learn the first form of wing chun (called the Sil Lim Tao) and I will introduce you to the partnership exercise of chi sau. I don’t think that I will ask you to punch or kick anything on your first lesson, but we will do some pad work over the following weeks.
The first lesson will cover information on wing chun, body awareness exercises, partnership exercises and Sil Lim Tao. I might give you a bit of homework so we can progress each week. I expect that there will be between 5-10 beginners so you will have the opportunity to compare notes with others as you go along.
If after reading this you want to start, that is great. If you can let me know by text or email I will keep you a place reserved. You can pay for the block of lessons on the 22 June (£30), if you are now a cashless person you can pay to

After you complete the 5 week course you can join the main classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 8-9.30pm. The cost for those is £10 for one lesson, or only £15 if you attend both in the same week.
